Arcadia Murals proprietor Kaye Hodges trained as an Illustrator and Graphic Designer at colleges in Wales and London.
Kaye first became intrigued with special paint techniques whilst decorating various family homes. She attended two courses on Special Paint Techniques and has these effects in her portfolio. During a commission as the scenic illustrator for a production of the musical Peter Pan at the Royal Festival Hall, saw her work for the first time on a grand scale.
Murals were a natural progression. Kaye is most interested in the trompe l’oeil (to trick the eye) technique as it is one of the most challenging for the mural painter and awe inspiring for the viewer.
However, Kaye’s spectrum of versatility ensures that she is not a slave to classical imagery alone and is adept at creating contemporary mural designs for bedrooms, nurseries, restaurants and gardens.
A mural painter can be a wonderful illusionist, not only to decoratively embellish plain or unsightly areas of wall-space, but to transform them into surfaces that are almost magical. The breadth of subject matter is infinite and ideas for murals are only limited by the imagination.
